During the presentation of her award, Claire Murdoch, Chief Executive, and Chris Bumstead, Head of Patient and Public Involvement, praised Jacent for her continuous commitment to the Trust and for the important role she plays in improving the quality of our services.
Jacent's nomination said: "I sit at a short distance from Jacent and have overheard the many daily conversations she has with complainants. The conversations imply that she is dealing with irate, persistent, sometimes unwell people. She is always impeccably polite, clear, thoughtful, empathic, informative, firm and a paragon of patience."

Dimple’s nomination was supported by a large number of her colleagues at the CMHT, who said: “We would like to nominate our colleague Dimple for the hidden gem award. Dimple has a very welcoming and warm manor, towards staff and service users alike. Whenever a request is made, Dimple approaches it unfazed with willingness and a smile. During the time that Jade went live at the West End CMHT Dimple has been a super user and has supported staff with endless patience, which staff are very appreciative of. Dimple has managed to effortlessly include this in her other duties with out disturbance.
“Dimple is the first point of contact for service users and visitors to the West End CMHT, who often comment regarding her welcoming and kind nature and professionalism, even when under taking circumstances. –12 people have signed a petition to agree with this nomination.”

Patrick received nominations for the hidden gem award from his colleagues, and upon being presented with the award service users also expressed their gratitude to him. Patrick's nomination said “He is so dedicated to his job, and actually goes the extra hundred miles for both service users and the staff. On his days off the service users constantly ask where he is. He is a true Gem”
His colleague said “Pat is the epitome of a nurse who is patient centred! He always remains calm under pressure and takes the lead in deescalating difficult situations”.

Catherine received nominations from both service users and her colleagues. One said “Catherine has been my nurse for several years now and over the past year has done everything to support me as my husband has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour”. Another nomination described her as ‘unfailingly polite and professional in manner’ and ‘always treats patients with respect and dignity’.
Her colleague said “Catherine is a generous, fun and supportive colleague. I strongly support the proposal to recognise her as a "not so hidden" gem!

Anne Marie received the award for always being supportive of her colleagues, and her professional, calm and approachable attitude with visitors. Her nomination said: nullI have no hesitation in nominating Anne Marie for a Hidden Gem award. Whilst the Gordon Hospital was under Special Measures, she was extremely supportive of those around her, no request was too much and she went over and beyond her commitment to the service during this period. She worked extremely long hours, listened to us when we were stressed and also offered a great deal of support to those around her. Phil received nominations from a number of colleagues in his team who described him dedicated, client-focused and always doing a great job engaging clients in treatment.
One of his nominators said Phil had been particularly helpful when they first joined the team by being welcoming and taking time to explain everything from procedures to introductions to clients.

On being presented with the Hidden Gem award last week Meena said that the award is a result of the support she receives from such a great team.

Jayne was nominated by her colleagues for always being helpful and providing invaluable support to the team. She always has a smile on her face and takes on any problems the team encounters to find solutions.

Fred McGruer, Team Co-ordinator
Fred McGruer, from The Junction Drug and Alcohol Service in Brent, has become our first Hidden Gem.
Fred joined the team just last year, but received an incredible five nominations from his colleagues at the service, demonstrating the impression he has made since he took up his post as team coordinator. The nominations told how Fred has been instrumental in making his team feel valued and bringing about a team culture of hard work, good quality supervision and passion for patient care.
